Before the Game

The Vietnam Swans versus The Hong Kong Dragons

Before the main match a "curtain raiser" was played by "Legends" of the Vietnam Swans. A match played between Saigon and Hanoi opened the proceedings before the main game got underway. Merchandise was available as well as booze and delicious tucker, and the stage was set for the main game. To kick off proceedings the National Anthems for Australia, New Zealand and Vietnam were sung and the match was introduced by the Australian Consulate General and the New Zealand ambassador and the crowd was fired up by the MC for the proceedings, Matt who also played in the main event.

To find out more about the Vietnam Swans go to: http://vietnamswans.com/. It's not all about footy though. Money was raised by the match to help local orphanages and to raise awareness of the need for swimming instruction for the kids of Vietnam. In a country that is one long coastline more kids die each year from drowning than from road accidents and if you have ever been to Vietnam and seen the chaos that is Vietnamese traffic you'll understand that this is a dire problem.
