Also known as The Hotel De Ville, this beautiful structure harks back to colonial times. Many year ago I tried to access the building by strolling past a guard as if the place was mine. Usually this works quite well but on this occasion I was forced out at gunpoint. But the gun was being held by a soldier in an ill fitting uniform and a hat that was too big. I didn't feel threatened I recall, I felt amused.
Standing at the top of what was once The Grand Canal now Nguyen Hue Street the wedding cake styling is in stark contrast to the gleaming towers behind.
